I have sought to advocate for the arts, my school, and my students through:
-
teaching Junior High Art, Art 1, Art 2, and Advanced Art, all of which include a range of both 2D & 3D mediums
-
establishing a varsity lettering program for the arts and a chapter of the National Art Honor Society
-
encouraging student involvement in the Scholastic Art Awards, resulting in students awarded 148 regional awards and 6 national awards in the last four years
-
participation in the Congressional Art Competition , resulting in 3 first place winners whose work is displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year
- leading an annual fundraiser that has raised over $16,000 in two years for our Visual and Performing Arts department
- exhibiting student artwork in three annual arts showcases
-
serving as Department Head of the Arts and Electives Department and as a teacher representative to the Fine Arts Committee
-
active involvement as a board member and secretary for Little Bird Arts
-
serving as a Conference Committee Member and the Private and Parochial Schools Representative for the Oregon Art Education Association

Since January 2016, I have led a group of students to volunteer weekly with the Boys and Girls Club at Russell Elementary School. Our students are assigned a grade level to mentor and they have done a fantastic job!
It is so important to showcase the works of our artists and to do so in an engaging and special way. Our annual art show is a great way to celebrate our student artists and showcase their work.
